This HIGHLAND WOMEN’S MINISTRY event is to encourage, inform, and open up the opportunity  for women to be a part of ministering to the recovering victims of human trafficking in our country. Speaker Alana Opdahl is the director of Oasis of Hope, a Christian Ministry (based in Pennsylvania) that helps ladies who were victims of human trafficking. On Saturday, September 14th, 6:00 pm, she will be speaking to us about how they are able to help these ladies and as they transition back into society. Dinner will be prepared by Chef Larry Huffman. Tickets will be $10 with 1/2 to pay for your dinner and the other 1/2 to be given toward this ministry. Our wonderful deacons have also already volunteered to serve the meal that night, and for those of you who attended our dinner last November, you know this will be a very special treat for us. We would also like to provide 50 bags with 6 essential items in each of them for 50 ladies who will be entering this ministry for help. These ladies come with nothing, so these gift bags will be a blessing to them. If anyone wants to start collecting the 6 items for a lady or two, they are: shampoo, conditioner, body wash, toothbrush, toothpaste and a hairbrush. We have some very kind and talented ladies who will be making the fabric bags for us to place our 6 items. We will be providing the bags in the near future for you to fill and return if you would like to bless one or more of the women who will enter the Oasis of Hope Program. Also, on Sunday, September 15th, immediately following morning worship, we will have a covered dish, church wide luncheon for all (men included). Alana will speak concerning the human trafficking crisis in our country and how to protect our children and grandchildren from becoming victims. She will also speak to us on what to do if we suspect we are witnessing a human trafficking situation. According to Alana, the content is not recommended for children 5th grade and below, so childcare will be provided when she speaks.
